Taking up residence in the well renowned Habitat complex, Zanzi Byron Bay is the sister salon of the original Zanzi of the Cornerstone Stores in Tugun. Both salons are sustainable, plant-based salons where visitors are treated to a holistic experience. The team use minimal plastics and chemicals. An impressive 95% of the salon waste is repurposed.

To compliment this ethos and continue the successful aesthetic of the first fit-out, we repeated many elements that are essential to the Zanzi brand. The interior encompasses all natural and local materials. The bare bones of the building were left exposed to minimise unnecessary layers. Locally sourced plywood was assembled by local cabinetmakers. The easel-style hair stations are designed to be easily movable to create a flexible working space. Something that came in very handy during covid restrictions!

Open display shelves sit proud in the display window shopfront. As well as providing an opportunity to view products from both sides, it acts as a screen to shield the workstations without blocking light and the ambience outside. Natural fibre pendants mark the length of the seating area while the general lighting is exposed tracks to keep wiring to a minimum.

With plentiful natural light and an outlook to the yard next door, this space provides a relaxing and tranquil salon experience.
