This courtyard extension brings a relaxed, youthful vibe to the Story Bridge Hotel.

 

Prior to the renovations, the space was primarily a transition zone between the entry and the restrooms, with a small raised seating area facing the carpark. Now, the courtyard has been leveled out to create one large, open space with just enough windows and skylights to let light in but keep the carpark views and elements out.

 

A new bar was added that backs on to the historic restaurant bar next door, visible through sleek glazing and the open kitchen. Brick walls, timber trusses and timber-framed windows are featured to create cohesion with the original restaurant, while the injection of colour through the encaustic floor tiles creates a fun and social atmosphere.
